What Apple does right
The AirPods Pro 2 offer impressive features: The H2 chip enables adaptive EQ, the Active Noise Cancellation works very well, and with up to 6 hours of battery life plus case, they are suitable for everyday use. The seamless integration into the Apple ecosystem makes them the logical choice for many.
The physical limits
But this is where we run into fundamental problems: The universal fit only works for people with "standard ears". Artificial noise cancellation consumes energy and can never achieve the natural isolation of a perfect fit.
The built-in driver is a compromise for the smallest possible design. Digital signal processing tries to improve what the hardware cannot achieve.
